In 2004 AutoEx was "born" in Salem, South Dakota, for definite reasons. Salem is a small community "blessed" with a unique location:  the junction of SD Highway 38 and US Highway 81, and a mere 3 miles from Interstate 90. AutoEx enjoys a very advantageous location, especially given the steady growth of McCook County and southeastern SD. Salem, which is  comfortably "sandwiched" between Sioux Falls and Mitchell, is a short 30-minute drive from Madison. Salem is a prosperous county-seat community that was fortunate to have survived and even prospered through the '80s. Given these and so many other positive factors, Salem was the right choice as a location for this new business.

New business is hardly a fair description because from its start, AutoEx has been "blessed" with a "built-in" clientele of trusting customers who know owner John McCormick personally. They knew John as a life-time resident of the Salem /McCook County area, his having worked here since the '60s.  John has been in the automotive field since his teens, earning a reputation for "doing things right"!  For years John has dreamed of owning and operating an automobile dealership including a high-caliber repair facility, giving satisfied customers reason to return time and again. From the start, John decided to demonstrate this philosophy by offering excellence with quality vehicles and backing them up with expert service.

A new facility was built on Highway 81, right in the middle of Salem, and equipped with the latest in diagnostic equipment, lifts, etc. Services offered are tune-ups, transmission/drive-line service, engine repair/replacement, as well as a full line of tires, batteries, and various accessories. The most recent addition is the equipment to perform precision wheel alignment. Visitors will also find a large selection of late-model cars, trucks, vans and SUV's. Honesty and integrity will be the continuing order for this business. The desire of AutoEx personnel is to have customers feel that they have been treated properly with respect; thus feeling comfortable about recommending AutoEx to their friends.
